Ten Australians harmonising on stage
This is a show well worth going to see. The Ten Tenors, a group of ten classical singers from Australia, with their trendy suits, clean-cut looks and signature 10-part harmonies, have been wowing audiences since 1995. The Ten Tenors have developed a repertoire that has a mixture of classics, such as Nessun Dorma and Pie Jesu, versions of more contemporary tunes such as John Ledgend’s 'All of Me' and Queen’s 'Bohemian Rhapsody' – all of which lend themselves to the 10-part harmony for which the group has become so well known. One of the most magnetic things about The Ten Tenors is the chemistry between the performers themselves and between the performers and their audiences. The ensemble keeps their audiences engaged, chatting to them directly in between the songs, and this makes for an all-round enjoyable evening. The Ten Tenors – a worldwide sensation
The Ten Tenors originally started out with a one-off performance in 1995, however they enjoyed the experience so much that they decided to try and formalise their concept and so they started performing regularly and organising tours – first around Australia, before venturing out on a worldwide scale. They also started to break away from the traditional opera style singing early on and began to incorporate contemporary music into their repertoire, with one of their first contemporary tracks being a cover of a song by an Australian indie band. From there, they moved on to covers of the likes of Queen and Simon and Garfunkel, as well as continuing with the traditional operatic arias. They have toured to over 29 countries and performed in over 2,000 concerts around the world. In addition to this, they have produced at least 15 albums. Keep an eye open for Ten Tenors tickets, which can be bought on StubHub. You could also keep an eye out for tickets to the shows of other classical singing groups, such as Seattle Mens Chorus, Los Angeles Master Chorale and The Tallis Scholars.
