Paul McCartney's successful solo career
McCartney became a superstar as part of the rock band The Beatles, formed with John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr in 1960. In the ten years between then and the group’s breakup in 1970, they released 12 albums and recorded 237 original songs. As the best-selling band in history, the Beatles have sold between 600 000 million and 1 billion records and singles and have had 15 number-one records.
The boy from Liverpool hasn’t done too badly as a solo artist either – Paul McCartney has 36 rock, pop, classical and electronica albums, some recorded with his second group Wings. He tours most years, his biggest being The Paul McCartney World Tour, which included 104 shows between 1989 and 1990. In 1997 Paul McCartney became Sir Paul McCartney when he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II herself for services to music.
McCartney's songs and collaborations
As can be imagined, the chipper Beatle has grown to be a legend in his own right, and his solo work has seen him collaborate with some of Pop music’s finest performers. Take for example collaboration track “FourFiveSeconds”, where we see our beloved Maccers perform along both Rihanna and Kanye West! Receiving an impressive amount of praise from critics everywhere, the track has even lead to cringe-worthy tweets such as “I don’t know who Paul McCartney is, but Kanye is going to give this man a career w/this new song!!”.
So prepare yourself to sing along to hits like Yesterday, Free as a Bird and Hey Jude, as the man himself visits a city nearby and gives you a night to remember. If you're a die-hard Beatle's fan, you should also check out The Bootleg Beatles live shows. You will be transported back in time and feel like you are watching the oringal Liverpool boys perform!
