From "A Christmas Carol" to the Grammy Awards
Born in North London in 1994, Jacob Collier began his showbiz career as a child actor, playing Tiny Tim in a 2004 TV movie adaptation of "A Christmas Carol". By the time he was 17 he’d started uploading eye-catching musical performances that showcased his multi-instrumentalist and vocal harmony skills to YouTube. While further honing his jazz piano skills at the Royal Academy of Music, he supported Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock at the Montreux Jazz Festival, collaborated with Snarky Puppy and released his debut single, "Hideaway". In 2016 Collier dropped his first studio effort, "In My Room", which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart and won two Grammy Awards. Collier followed it up two years later with "Djesse Vol. 1", the first part of an ambitious four-volume project which featured guest spots from Laura Mvula, the Metropole Orkest and his very own mother, Suzie. Boasting appearances from JoJo, Lianne La Havas and Steve Vai, its second instalment arrived in 2019. Take a look at the range of Jacob Collier tickets currently available on StubHub.
Melting pot of sounds performed in innovative style
Ever since he burst on to the music scene in his late teens, Jacob Collier has been determined to push the boundaries of jazz. As well as incorporating elements of folk, funk, electronica and classical into his sound, the versatile talent has also wowed audiences with his pioneering multimedia live shows. Created in conjunction with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Media Lab, his very first tour combined a specially designed vocal harmonizer, a circle of instruments featuring no fewer than six looping stations and an array of real-time 3D video projections that synced perfectly with his melting pot of sounds. Collier has since taken this awe-inspiring one-man show across the globe, performing at both sold-out headline shows and various major festivals. Fans should look forward to hearing all the highlights from his studio efforts, including originals "Don’t You Know", "Hideaway" and "Feel" and his inventive covers of Stevie Wonder’s "Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing", Bill Withers’ "Lean on Me" and "The Flintstones" theme.
