Chicago Cubs history
The Cubs were founded as the White Stockings back in 1876, in 1903 they became the Chicago Cubs. The team's early history was incredibly successful. In 1906 the team won 116 games, setting a modern-era record for win percentage, before losing to rivals the Chicago White Sox in the World Series final. The Cubs then won back-to-back World Series in 1907 and 1908, becoming the first team to win the World Series twice. As we know, however, this was their last piece of silverware for a long time. In fact, the play Bleacher Bums is centred on a group of Chicago Cubs fans who, despite the team's failure to win, remain loyal. Now, with talent like Current MVP Kris Bryant and first baseman Anthony Rizzo, the team look set to push on and are likely to win more series in the near future.
