Atalanta Calcio fixtures 2019-2020
Atalanta BC (Bergamo Company) was founded at the beginning of the last century, by Julius and Ferruccio Amati, John Roberti, Eugenio Orio and Alessandro Forrini, five high school students that decided to form and name the team after the famous Greek goddess, due to her exceptional speed and athletic ability. Boasting more than a century of history, Atalanta launched players like Christian Vieri, Filippo Inzaghi and Roberto Donadoni, positioning the team's training facilities as one of the best in the country. Needless to say, buy your Atalanta tickets and you can follow the mighty Nerazzurri in this season's gruelling Serie A.
In home games, the Nerazzurri play all their games at Bergamo's Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia, an arena boasting 26,637 seats, located north of the city center. The stadium belongs to the Bergamo city councel, but the company has already submitted an acquisition proposal; with the intent to remodel and acquire the UEFA licenses in order to play in Europe. Work began this season, with the first steps being the restructuring of the Curva Nord, followed by the southern curve. In doing so, Atalanta would become the fourth Italian club with an owned stadium after Juventus, Udinese and Sassuolo.
The Atalanta B.C. have never actually won a Serie A championship, with their best finish being in the 1947/1948 season (placing fifth behind Turin, Milan, Juventus and Triestina). Of course, it's not all bad news, with Atalanta having won an edition of the Italian Cup - in 1962/1963,(especially impressive as the odds were 3 to 1 against Torino), and the club just missed the final of the Cup Winners' Cup in 1987/1988. In the championship cadet, the Nerazzurri have won five titles in the seasons 1939/1940, 1958/1959, 1983/1984, 2005/2006 and 2010/2011.
